Peer Review Process and Plagiarism Detection

In order to publish an academic text in Księgarnia Akademicka Publishing, it is necessary to for it to be accepted in the two-stage academic review. The manuscript is first submitted for internal review, consisting in the evaluation of the Publishing Director and the editorial team during the editorial board meeting. After taking into account the results of this stage and consulting experts, if necessary, the Publishing Director takes the decision regarding the publication of the manuscript.

If the first reviewers approve the text, it is then submitted for external review, which consists in evaluation by two independent experts in a given field. In this regard, different peer-review models are adopted – from double-blind review, blind review to peer review. If necessary, the Publisher will help in finding a suitable reviewer. The entire review procedure is carried out following the Publisher’s ethical principles (see, more broadly, Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement).

Plagiarism detection is carried out using the knowledge of the Editorial Board and experts in the relevant scientific field during the internal and external review process, as well as during the editing process carried out by experienced proofreaders. If plagiarism is suspected at any of these stages, the text is additionally analyzed using appropriate software – in the case of English and other foreign-language texts, this is the Crossref Similarity Check tool operated by iThenticate, and in the case of Polish-language texts, this is additionally or exclusively the Plagiat.pl software (integrated with the Uniform Anti-Plagiarism System using by Polish higher education system).

The Publisher reserves the right to perform an anti-plagiarism check for each text submitted for publication.

The check with digital tools can also be performed at the request of the author of the submitted text.
