The need to study and publish Turkish transcribed texts was and is acknowledged by a considerable num ber of specialists dealing with this subject matter in their own researches. The abundance of existing publications proves the importance of this issue. Due to the great number of literary sources concerning the discussed subject matter, we do not even attempt in this study to present the state of research. The bibliography devoted to Turkish transcribed texts requires an individual study in any case. We are also aware that this subject matter has not been fully studied yet. It is even unknown how many Turkish transcribed texts written in various graphical systems are stm hidden in archives or libraries all over the world. We are aware, however, of the great importance of these texts for the study ofTurkish language history, phonetics, lexicon or dialects. The vital role of Turkish transcribed texts in the study of Oriental borrowings in European languages as well as European borrowings in Turkish language cannot be omitted either. One of the works which includes lexical material which is Turkish transcribed text is seventeenth-century dictionary Dittionario della lingua italiana, turchesca written by Giovanni Molino which appeared in print in Rome in 1641. Not many publications have been devoted to this work or its author. The study by A. Tais, which consists only of the translation of this text into contemporary Turkish language and comments about the language used in the text, is recognized as the most extensive. Furthermore, E. Święcicka devoted her article to G. Molino's dictionary describing in details her quest and research looking for the author's origins and identity. It is also worthwhile to mention the publication by M. Adamović and other works in which the author and his work are mentioned.
